In Oyo and Ogun, the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has secured convictions for 33 individuals engaged in internet fraud.
The defendants, including Lawal Aminat Abiodun, a Siwes Student at DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, were prosecuted by Justices Ladiran Akintola, Adebukola Olajide, M.O. Ishola, B.B. Adebowale, and Uche Agomoh.
Confirmed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, these individuals, such as Amos Temitope Taiwo and Fatai Habeeb Mayowa, pleaded guilty to cybercrimes and received sentences ranging from 18 months imprisonment to six months of community service.
Additionally, the courts ordered them to compensate victims and forfeit recovered items, including eight luxury vehicles, to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The arrests were made in various locations in Oyo and Ogun states following EFCC investigations into their internet-related activities.
