A 34-year-old Nigerian footballer, Sodiq Adebisi, died after collapsing during a training session at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, in Ijebu Ode local government area of Ogun State.
He was taken to the hospital but could not be revived. The cause of his death is unknown.
The player collapsed while training with his teammates, and the cause of his collapse is not clear. His teammates tried to help him.
After collapsing, his teammates rushed him to the hospital, where doctors were unable to save his life. He died later that day.
The police confirmed the death and stated that the player’s brother requested the body. The police did not comment on the cause of death or indicate whether an investigation would be launched.
The brother did not request an investigation; instead, he wanted to bury the player according to Islamic tradition and made this request to the police.
