Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has suspended Chief Angela Odey, the Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

The suspension, announced on October 30, 2023, by Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, is a response to allegations of mishandling palliatives intended to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal.

As a result of this suspension, Odey has been directed to transfer her responsibilities to the most senior director within her agency by the end of the working day on Monday.

During the suspension, she is prohibited from participating in any agency activities unless directed otherwise.

Notably, two weeks ago, the governor had initiated the distribution of these palliatives across the state, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.
