On October 31, 2022, the Rivers State Police Command officially confirmed the arrest of 122 individuals involved in a protest in Port Harcourt.
This protest, led by Chijioke Ihunwo, the Chairman of the National Youths Council of Nigeria, escalated into violence, culminating in the invasion of the official residence of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Following a distress call, the police swiftly dispatched tactical teams to the scene, apprehending the suspects, including Mr. Ihunwo. Subsequently, all 122 detainees were taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt for further questioning.
However, the police have not released additional information regarding this incident.
