Elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark has expressed profound sadness upon hearing of the passing of King (Prof) TJT Princewill, a respected monarch from Rivers State, whose burial is scheduled for this month. Chief Clark fondly remembered the late King as a true gentleman who epitomized dignity.
As a prominent figure within the Ijaw community, Chief Clark deeply lamented the loss of King Prof. T.J.T Princewill, the Amanyanabo of Kalabari, recognizing it as a significant loss not only to the academic community but also to the Ijaw nation and the entire nation of Nigeria.
He offered his heartfelt prayers for the bereaved family of the late monarch and the Ijaw Nation, wishing them strength during this trying time.
During a courtesy visit led by Prince Tonye Princewill, the son of the late King, and joined by Chief Dr. David Briggs and Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah at Chief Clark’s residence in Abuja, the PANDEF leader conveyed his intention to personally attend the funeral.
He also seized the opportunity to advocate for unity among the Ijaw people, hoping that the King’s funeral would serve as a catalyst for greater cohesion within the community.
Prince Tonye Princewill, who serves as the Chairman of the Central Working Committee for the burial, shared that the purpose of the visit was to personally brief Chief Clark on the funeral arrangements and extend an invitation for his presence, should circumstances permit.
Furthermore, individuals from various backgrounds, including the Dan-Amanar of Dutse, Alhaji Nasir Danu, the Ooni of Ife, and the Obi of Onitsha, expressed their intentions to pay their respects to the late King Princewill.
They hailed the King as a paragon of virtue and pledged their support for his funeral, acknowledging the profound impact he had on their lives and communities.
In addition, the Amanyanabo of Twon Brass, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, offered his condolences and affirmed his commitment to attending the funeral alongside his entire cabinet.
He emphasized the enduring legacy of King Princewill and how it would continue to speak for him.
