Hilda Bassey, a renowned Nigerian celebrity chef, recently opened up about her disconnection from her biological father, Effiong Bassey Edem.
This revelation came to light during her latest interview with Taymesan on the ‘Tea with Tay’ podcast. Hilda shared that her father had always been a presence in their lives as children, but a significant argument between her parents changed everything.
Hilda pinpointed a crucial moment when her father’s absence became evident. He had been somewhat present, but the turning point occurred during her second-semester of her 300-level studies at the university.
She still vividly remembered their conversation on matriculation day, where she called him, expressing her disappointment that he hadn’t brought any food. His response cut deep, asking, Who’s your dad?
