Taraba Boat Mishap, NEMA Says 14 people Were Rescued, 21 Bodies Recovered, 68 Missing.

After a tragic boat mishap in Taraba, where a boat carrying over 100 passengers from Mayorenewo fish market to Binnari town capsized in the River Benue in Karim Lamido local government area.

The latest update from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reveals that out of the 104 passengers, 14 were rescued, 21 bodies have been recovered, but a heartbreaking 69 individuals are still unaccounted for.

In response to this devastating incident, search and rescue operations have been concluded, and an agreement has been reached with local divers to continue monitoring the area for any potential developments.

The Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, and other key stakeholders visited the scene on October 31, 2023.
