The Lagos community of Powerline Road in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area urgently implores Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to expedite the repair and completion of the road connecting their area to other parts of the state.
Traders and residents have voiced their concerns, emphasizing that the deteriorating condition of the road hampers their daily lives and businesses.
During a visit to the community, it was evident that the road, which links the Jankara Spare Parts Market in Lagos to parts of Ogun State, is in a dire state.
The residents have endured considerable hardships due to the road’s poor condition, which has, in turn, negatively impacted their businesses.
Jamiu Ogunriola expressed his frustration, citing how the road’s condition has deterred potential customers from using it, leading to a decline in his business.
Despite previous appeals and partial efforts by road contractors to construct drainage, the road remains unfinished.
A resident, known as Funmi, stressed the economic and traffic decongestion benefits that would accompany the road’s completion.
She urged Governor Sanwo-Olu to intervene and ensure the road’s swift completion, alleviating the community’s daily hardships.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Director of Media and Publicity of the Lagos State Ministry of Works, Shina Odunuga, were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to his contact went unanswered at the time of this report.
