The Court of Appeal in Abuja is set to commence hearings on Monday, November 6th, concerning Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s appeal against the Kano State Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to nullify his election.
This legal showdown, identified by reference number CA/KN/EP/GOV/KAN/34/2023, involves Governor Yusuf, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
On September 20, 2023, the tribunal nullified Yusuf’s election, citing 165,663 invalidated votes due to missing INEC signatures or stamps.
Initially, INEC had declared him the victor with 1,019,602 votes in the March 18 election, while his opponent, Nasiru Gawuna, secured 890,705 votes.
