In a gripping incident, a private HS25B aircraft, operated by Flint Aero, narrowly averted tragedy when it crash-landed on the runway at Ibadan Airport in Oyo State yesterday.
The flight, which had taken off from Abuja at 6:41 p.m., was carrying several high-ranking government officials, including the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and some of his aides.
The crash-landing occurred around 7:21 p.m., with ten individuals on board. Remarkably, there were no fatalities, although the aircraft sustained significant damage.
Reports suggest that the pilot had received clearance for an RNAV approach to Runway 22 at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, but the plane skidded off the runway.
Swift and effective action ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members.
In the meantime, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an investigation into the incident.
According to James Odaudu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NSIB, Our investigators are on-site, and we will provide further information as soon as possible.
