An anonymous source within the National Population Commission (NPC) has disclosed that the National Population and Housing Census, originally scheduled for 2023, may not take place.

The previous administration had initially planned it for 2022 but later postponed it to 2023.

According to the source, the commission is ready to resume the census, pending President Bola Tinubu’s decision, as they have presented their plan to him.

While most preparations, including training, have been completed, conducting the census in 2023 is unlikely due to time constraints, with the training alone requiring over two months to finish.

The commission will determine the timeframe once the president approves the census and budget allocation is secured.
