A civil society organization, the Enugu Good Governance Group (E-3G), has demanded the immediate resignation of the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, and the Director of Corps Certification, Mohamad Ibrahim, due to their misrepresentation of facts in the Governor Peter Mbah certificate case.

E-3G also expressed concern about rising judgment debts caused by government functionaries’ recklessness and ineptitude, calling for these officials to be held accountable for such penalties. The group’s National Coordinator, Comrade Odinaka Okechukwu, made these demands in a statement released on Monday.

Following a judgment by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, which absolved Governor Mbah of certificate forgery and awarded him damages, the group emphasized that this victory is not just for Mbah but for all those who have suffered or might suffer injustices in the future due to the incompetence, collusion, conspiracy, and recklessness of public institutions for personal gain.

E-3G criticized the NYSC for admitting to reinstating Mbah to complete his service but claiming they had no records of his service completion, despite evidence to the contrary.

They also highlighted the agency’s loss of Mbah’s file and its inability to account for 12 certificates in his series.

As a result, E-3G called for the resignation of the NYSC DG and the Director of Corps Certification or their removal from their positions.
