Nigerian football sensation, Gift Orban, voiced his frustration regarding his lack of playing time at KAA Gent, indicating that he may consider leaving the club if the manager, Hein Vanhaezebrouck, doesn’t grant him more opportunities.
Orban, a recent super eagle invitee, expressed his concerns after KAA Gent’s 3-1 victory over Sporting Charleroi in the Jupiler Pro League.
In the interview, he lamented the limited playing time he’s been receiving, particularly as he’s scored twice in his last three appearances when coming off the bench as a substitute.
Orban, who started only six out of thirteen league games this season, acknowledged his readiness to explore other options if his situation doesn’t improve but clarified that he hasn’t yet discussed this with the Gent coach.
He emphasized the importance of starting matches to gain confidence and mentioned the possibility of seeking opportunities elsewhere if necessary.
Orban still has approximately three and a half years remaining on his contract with Gent, which he joined from Stabæk Fotball in January 2023.
Notably, during the summer transfer window, he was linked to potential moves to Tottenham Hotspur and Lille, but these transfers didn’t materialize before the deadline, and he remained with Gent for the time being.
