The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic death of a female student from the University of Port Harcourt.
The lifeless body of Adaeze, a 200-level Accounting undergraduate, was discovered in her Aluu apartment in the Ikwerre Local Government Area. The circumstances surrounding her death remain uncertain at this time.
This unfortunate incident comes just two weeks after the decomposed remains of a 300-level Biochemistry undergraduate, Justina Otuene, were found in the residence of her ex-lover, Damian Okoligwe, along NTA Road, Ozuoba in Obio/Akpor LGA.
Damian Okoligwe, a 400-level Petrochemical Engineering student at UNIPORT, has been arrested by the police in connection with that case.
Prof. Chima Wokocha, the Dean of Student Affairs at UNIPORT, confirmed the discovery of Adaeze’s lifeless body in her off-campus accommodation.
The university’s management and the police have visited the scene, and the parents of the deceased student have been informed of the tragic incident.
It has been noted that a bottle of a substance was found near Adaeze, suggesting the consumption of a possibly harmful substance.
The police are actively investigating to uncover the circumstances surrounding her demise.
According to Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the state police command, the Divisional Police Officer received a report from a landlord who found Adaeze lying on the ground, with signs of foaming from her nose and mouth.
An apparent bottle of a substance, potentially sniper, was discovered nearby. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was later confirmed dead. The investigation is ongoing to shed light on the details of her passing.
