Nigeria has been designated as one of the most dangerous places for Christians by the International Christian Concern (ICC) due to the ongoing violence against Christians in the country, particularly in the North and Middle Belt regions.
The ICC’s 2023 report highlights the killings, land seizures, and displacement of Christians, which they describe as a form of genocide.
The organization has called for the United States to add Nigeria back to the list of countries with severe violations of religious freedom and to condition foreign aid on improvements in religious freedom.
Other countries oppressive towards Christians, according to the ICC, include North Korea, India, Iran, China, Pakistan, Eritrea, Algeria, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan.
