In a stunning showcase of skill and determination, Gift Willy secured victory at the 4th CIO Classic, overshadowing Nigeria’s top golfer, Francis Epe.
The three-day competition at Python Golf Club in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, reached its climax on a rain-interrupted third round, culminating in a tense 27-hole closing day.
Facing pressure and challenging weather, Willy’s commanding performance led to a remarkable score of 68, securing his triumph with an impressive eleven-under par total of 277 (72, 68, 69, 68) after 72 holes.
Willy attributed his success to meticulous preparation and a strategic game plan, focusing on playing bogey-free and capitalizing on every birdie opportunity.
Willy’s victory not only earned him the prestigious title but also a substantial share of the 22 million Naira total purse, with winnings amounting to 4.4 million Naira. Francis Epe claimed the runner-up position, and Abubakar Mustapha secured third place.
