TUC President Festus Osifo confirmed on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily that the union has not received any court order to halt the ongoing nationwide strike initiated on Tuesday.
Osifo criticized the government for disregarding court orders while expecting adherence to judicial rulings from other entities.
He emphasized the union’s commitment to responsible decision-making, stating that they will review any court order received and make an informed decision with their legal team.
The nationwide strike, directed by the Nigerian Labour Congress and TUC, began on November 14 after unsuccessful negotiations with the government.
Despite an ex-parte application from the government seeking an injunction, the unions proceeded with the strike, citing an assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero as a catalyst.
The strike has impacted various sectors, coinciding with the recent conclusion of a lengthy Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.
