ASUU cautions that the Federal Government’s proposal to deduct 40% from universities’ Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) will detrimentally impact the university system.

The statement by ASUU’s National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, emphasizes that universities are not revenue-generating agencies, stating that student fees are meant to facilitate proper education tools.

The NEC meeting, held from November 11th to 12th, 2023, condemned the directive, urging the FG to exclude universities from the 40% IGR remittance.

Additionally, ASUU expressed concern over the Accountant General’s office’s failure to pay members’ promotion arrears since 2018 and urged the release of eight months’ withheld salaries related to the 2022 strike action.
