The Federal Government has reduced the charges against Emefiele related to procurement fraud.
Initially facing a 20-count charge, the amended charge now consists of six counts, with Emefiele as the sole defendant.
The alleged value of the procurement fraud has been decreased from N6.9 billion to N1.2 billion.
Emefiele is accused of using his position to favorably award contracts, including the procurement of 43 vehicles totaling N1.2 billion between 2018 and 2020.
Despite experiencing three previous delays, Emefiele’s arraignment was again stalled recently due to the nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress and its affiliates.
Emefiele was granted bail on November 8 after spending 151 days in detention.
