During the 33rd convocation lecture at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Federal Government emphasized the need for more youths with technological expertise to address global challenges.
Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, highlighted the importance of developing agriculture, manufacturing, and services, urging a shift from oil dependence for national revenue.
In his lecture, titled “Knowledge and Research as the Foundation for a Prosperous Economy,” Tijani urged technology-focused universities to lead the charge in advancing the country’s technological landscape.
He stressed the role of innovation in sectors like manufacturing and called on students to invest in self-improvement.
The minister also addressed challenges in the fisheries industry and underscored the need for knowledge application in various sectors for national development.
The Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Oladiji, noted the university’s commitment to knowledge advancement and celebrated the 33rd anniversary with the inclusion of the minister in the convocation activities.
Additionally, he inaugurated a special task force on environmental sanitation to ensure a conducive learning environment.
