The Court of Appeal complex in the Federal Capital Territory is heavily guarded as the appellate court prepares to rule on appeals from the governorship elections in Kano and Bauchi states.
A large number of police officers have cordoned off roads leading to the court, and our correspondent has observed a large crowd of people attempting to enter the building.
It should be noted that the Kano State election petition tribunal had declared Abba Kabir-Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the March 9 governorship election.
The police fired tear gas to control the throngs of supporters as they attempted to break through the barricades.
As of the time of this report, police officers are working hard to maintain law and order on the court grounds. Both appeals were scheduled for judgment at 10 a.m.
