The Nigeria Football Federation is reportedly weighing the option of dismissing Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, sparking the quest for a local successor.

Despite securing qualification for the upcoming Nations Cup, Peseiro’s tenure has faced scrutiny due to the team’s position in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, prompting the Technical Committee’s discontent.

According to Shariff Ahlan, Chairman of the NFF Technical Committee, if given the authority, he would swiftly replace Peseiro with a Nigerian coach, citing prior attempts to part ways with the Portuguese coach.

Ahlan emphasized the committee’s desire for a local coach, highlighting the positive impact of Nigerian coaches, as seen with the Falcons coach.

Ahlan also criticized Peseiro’s decision to consistently field Francis Uzoho, questioning the preference for a goalkeeper with a track record of errors over other options available in the squad.
