During its end-of-year lecture in the nation’s capital, TYO President for the Abuja Chapter, Chief Joseph Saater Undu, appealed to President Tinubu to direct security agencies to eliminate insecurity, especially in Benue’s IDP camps and other vulnerable areas.

Undu expressed disappointment with the federal government’s failure to address previous calls for the return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes, citing escalating attacks on communities and unsafe expressways in Benue and Nasarawa states.

Undu emphasized the Tiv people’s opposition to clustered homes, urging the government to create a safe environment for displaced persons to return home and provide financial support for rebuilding in their respective ancestral lands.

In a related lecture, Professor Ukertor Gabriel Moti highlighted the link between displacement and conflict in Nigeria, stressing the need for clearer mandates, effective coordination, and a specific framework to address the challenges faced by IDPs in the country.
