Lithuania’s success in reducing alcohol-related deaths through tax increases serves as a notable example. The overall message underscores the potential benefits of taxing unhealthy products, garnering global support according to a Gallup survey conducted with WHO and Bloomberg Philanthropies.

WHO’s recommendation emphasizes applying excise taxes universally to all sugar-sweetened beverages and alcoholic beverages.
