A Federal High Court in Abuja witnessed the closure of the prosecution’s case against former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, and ex-Finance Commissioner, Omadachi Oklobia, following the presentation of all evidence.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused them of diverting N3.1 billion from Benue State government funds, filing an amended 11-count charge.
Defendants’ counsel, Chris Uche (SAN), informed the court about their intention to file a no-case submission.
The prosecution concluded its case after the testimony of the eighth witness, Adewale Agunbiade, a Compliance Officer at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).
Agunbiade revealed transactions in Suswam’s dollar account, including multiple $10,000 cash deposits and a total deposit exceeding $200,000 between August 2014 and July 2015.
