The Oyo State government has established the Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, a new agency aimed at addressing the increasing crime rate within the state.

Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, announced the creation of this authority on December 14, 2022, emphasizing its role in enforcing laws and maintaining order.

The Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, approved during the 8th Executive Council Meeting, is specifically tasked with apprehending and prosecuting individuals who violate environmental and social laws.

The state government, led by Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde, has declared a zero-tolerance policy towards offenses such as indiscriminate waste disposal, traffic obstruction, driving against traffic, disregard for traffic signs, trading on public roads, and noise pollution.

To ensure widespread awareness, Governor Makinde has directed the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation to install billboards across the state.

The public is urged to cooperate with the newly established authority to achieve its objectives, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in maintaining the state’s security and overall well-being.
