A 35-y
ear-old suspect, Akeem, arrested for the murder of 18-year-old Obafemi Awolowo University student Quadri Salami, confessed to learning about the use of human heads for rituals through Facebook groups.
The investigation unfolded after Quadri’s father reported his disappearance, leading to the discovery of the victim’s decomposing body parts in a shallow grave on December 6, 2023.
According to police spokeswoman SP Omolola Odutola, Akeem revealed that Quadri sought spiritual assistance for wealth through rituals.
Akeem, who performed the gruesome act, later sold the victim’s head and palm to another native doctor, Ifaniyi, for N130,000.
Ifaniyi, unaware of the murder, admitted his involvement in purchasing Quadri’s body parts for ritualistic practices related to Ifa, esu, ogun, and head cleansing rites. Both suspects expressed remorse, with Akeem seeking forgiveness for his heinous actions.
