A member of a five-man armed robbery gang met his demise on Wednesday when the Kwara State Police anti-robbery squad intercepted their attempt to escape to Ilorin.
The gang, driving a snatched Toyota Camry in Sango, Ilorin, had earlier taken the vehicle from its owner in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The suspects, divided into two groups, encountered police during a hot chase. The pursued Toyota Camry crashed at Kulende, Sango, resulting in one robber shot in the neck, losing consciousness, and colliding with an electric pole and shops.
The injured robber succumbed to his wounds, while the other occupant managed to escape.
The police have cordoned off the area, and an investigation into the incident is underway, as confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire Adeyemi-Adetoun.
