Former President Goodluck Jonathan has firmly stated that he owes no apologies for backing the re-election of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, in the November 11, 2023, off-cycle governorship poll. During the Yuletide visit, Jonathan expressed his confidence in Diri’s leadership, citing improvements in peace and stability, and emphasized the need for continued security efforts to attract investors.
Governor Diri, in response, thanked Jonathan for his crucial endorsement, attributing it to the success of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.
The governor also expressed optimism about Jonathan’s future roles in fostering reconciliation and development.
