The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Worldwide, has cautioned Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, against blaming his political misjudgments on the Ijaw community.
The IYC emphasized that the Ijaw people played a crucial role in Wike’s political journey and urged him to reconsider decisions that diminished his political standing in the state.
Maobuye Nangi-Obu, the Secretary of Ijaw Youth Council, highlighted Wike’s actions, stating that they had left 27 lawmakers unemployed by compelling them to leave their elected political platform.
Nangi-Obu emphasized that the fight to protect Fubara was not ethnically motivated and reminded that the Ijaw community had supported previous governors, including those from the upland region.
Nangi-Obu also recommended the appointment of Ehie as Fubara’s Chief of Staff, noting Ehie’s understanding of governance and the rule of law.
He expressed the belief that Ehie deserved the position, given his character, firmness, and support for the governor. The IYC secretary urged prompt consideration for Ehie’s appointment, emphasizing his competence for the role.
