The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has officially extended the ongoing free train rides across the country until January 7, 2024 .
NRC Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, confirmed the extension, emphasizing the aim to encourage more people to experience the comfort and safety of train travel during the festive season.
The initiative, initially set to conclude on January 1, 2023, has been prolonged for the second time.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved a 50% discount on inter-state road travel and a 100% discount on train trips for the Christmas holiday, demonstrating a commitment to making travel affordable for Nigerians.
The Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals highlighted safety measures in place to ensure the well-being of travelers during the holidays.
