During a West Bank visit, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, stated that the ongoing conflict with Gaza’s ruling faction, Hamas, is expected to persist throughout 2024.
He highlighted potential spillover into other fronts, with increased tension in the West Bank and heightened pressure on the northern border with Lebanon.
Halevi indicated that while the intensity might fluctuate, Israel’s involvement in Gaza would continue, cautioning about potential escalations elsewhere.
The Gaza-based Health Ministry reported a death toll of 22,835, and injuries reaching 58,416, while around 1,200 people in Israel lost their lives due to Hamas attacks.
