Two female students and coursemates met an untimely death in a grave accident while en route to practical examinations on Tuesday.
The Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua Community, mourns the loss of Abasifreke Okon from Ikot Abasi Local Government Area and Irene Edwin from Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, both National Diploma (ND2) students in Science Laboratory Technology (SLT).
Mr. Michael Adekunle reported that the motorcyclist transporting the students, along with a trunk loaded with Fanta drinks, also succumbed to the accident, which occurred around 1:00 pm on Monday.
In the wake of this tragedy, Mr. Michael Adekunle urges road users to adhere to safety rules, emphasizing the importance of cautious driving.
Distraught community members have called on the school to halt examinations, allowing time for mourning the loss of the two students.
