Anambra Police Fatally Shoot Robbery Suspect At Checkpoint.

An unidentified member of a four-person robbery gang met a fatal end when Anambra State Police Command operatives shot him during a checkpoint encounter in Igboukwu community, Aguata Local Government Area.

The suspect attempted to shoot officers after pulling out a pistol. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

The remaining three gang members were apprehended, and a Barreta pistol and dagger were recovered during the arrest.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the event and mentioned that the State Commissioner of Police commended the vigilance of the officers.

The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.

The Commissioner also ordered the immediate release of two elderly passengers unrelated to the crime.

The police assure citizens that they will continue to fulfill their duty in safeguarding lives and property in Anambra State.
