The National Association of Social Workers of Nigeria (NASoW) has urged President Bola Tinubu to include social workers in the implementation of his administration’s social investment programs.

NASoW President, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, emphasized the importance of social workers in designing, executing, and monitoring these programs for maximum impact.

In an official letter delivered to the President’s office in Abuja on Monday, NASoW National President Alhaji Mashood Mustapha explained that social workers’ expertise is essential for the success of the new administration’s investment programs.

Mustapha highlighted the significance of including social workers in the planning and execution phases to ensure effectiveness and responsiveness to beneficiaries’ needs.

Mustapha emphasized that involving social workers would not only ensure efficient implementation but also underscore the government’s commitment to social responsibility and compassion.

He stressed that social workers possess the necessary skills to provide assistance and support to individuals, families, and communities, making them crucial in achieving the programs’ goals and promoting social justice.

In his open letter titled Open letter to President Bola Tinubu on the need to involve social workers in the social investment program, Mustapha commended Tinubu’s leadership and expressed optimism that with the support of social workers, the President’s social investment programs would be more effective in improving the lives of Nigerians.

Beyond the call for social worker involvement, Mustapha urged Tinubu to establish the Nigerian Council for Social Work in accordance with the Nigerian Council for Social Work Establishment Act 2022.

He highlighted the Act’s importance in regulating the social work profession and ensuring proper training and qualifications for practitioners.

In conclusion, Mustapha expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to lead the country towards a brighter future and assured the President of social workers’ commitment to collaborating in achieving his goals.

He thanked Tinubu for his dedication to improving the quality of life for all citizens, emphasizing their readiness to contribute to making Nigeria a better place for everyone.
