Olufunmi Amina, a 36-year-old single mother, was resigned to a life of domestic work and poverty until a chance encounter with a journalist altered her trajectory.

Without formal education, she had accepted cleaning homes as her only path. However, the journalist’s encouragement opened doors to opportunities and resources, leading Amina to pursue her dream of attending fashion school.

Now, she reflects on the challenges of adult education, empowered by the turning point in her life.

In 2021, cleaning the journalist’s house became a pivotal moment. Impressed by Amina’s determination, the journalist connected her with people offering opportunities.

This support fueled her dreams, forcing her to overcome communication fears and meet new people for maximum opportunity utilization.

Determined to overcome challenges, Amina embarked on a job sorting newspapers, catching the attention of Funke, who interviewed her.

Funke recognized Amina’s potential and assisted her, offering funds to register for a fashion school. Despite a difficult background and familial abandonment, Amina’s dedication at the fashion school thrived.

Funke’s continuous support allowed her to establish a booming fashion business.

The success enabled Amina to purchase land, build a home for her family, and expand her business. Funke’s encouragement extended to further education in business management.

With newfound knowledge, Amina expanded her ventures, living comfortably, supporting her family, and giving back to society.

As a successful entrepreneur, Amina passionately supports education for girls and women in her community through a scholarship fund.

She collaborates with local organizations to provide vocational training and job placement, aiming to break the cycle of poverty.

Additionally, Amina advocates for environmental conservation, incorporating eco-friendly practices in her business and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Amina’s journey, fueled by the journalist’s intervention and Funke’s support, showcases resilience, empowerment, and a commitment to creating a positive impact on individuals and the environment.
