The Federal Government, as part of its Renewed Hope Agenda for road infrastructure, has called upon figures like Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu to participate in road concessionaires and investments, mirroring practices in advanced economies.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, appealed to these billionaires during a meeting in Abuja, stressing the government’s commitment to evaluating the cost implications of their projects under the Highway Development and Management Initiatives.
Umahi highlighted the establishment of three committees tasked with reviewing contracts executed by concessionaires to overhaul Nigeria’s road infrastructure.
He emphasized the role of private sector involvement in accelerating the road infrastructure revolution, promoting accountability, and fostering profitable entrepreneurship in managing Federal Highways.
Umahi commended figures like Dangote and Elumelu for their investments in infrastructure and Nigeria’s economy, underscoring the importance of local and international investors in developing Nigeria’s extensive national road network.
The initiative aims to stimulate economic growth, facilitate job creation, promote local content development, and foster wealth creation for Nigerians, aligning with President’s vision to elevate Nigeria as a pride of the African continent.
