The Rivers State Police Command’s operatives have neutralized John Togo, a suspected notorious pirate allegedly terrorizing waterways in the state.
Addressing journalists at the State Police headquarters, Commissioner Disu revealed that Togo had posed a significant threat to drivers and passengers on Bonny, Okirika, and Port Harcourt water routes.
Described as an alleged member of the Iceland cult, Togo was involved in armed robbery, arms trafficking, sea piracy, and kidnapping.
Commissioner Disu disclosed that Togo was responsible for ambushing and killing four security personnel around the Degema local government area coastal community on November 4, 2023.
Togo targeted commercial boats, resulting in the deaths of drivers and passengers.
Acting on credible intelligence, C41 Intelligence and Borokiri Police Division tracked Togo to his hideout, engaging him in a shootout.
The suspected sea pirate was neutralized during the shootout at his hideout.
