A 400-level student of Petrochemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, Demain Okoligwe, has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for the murder of his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a 300-level Biochemistry student at UNIPORT.

He is accused of harvesting her organs for ritual purposes. The state Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwonyi, made this announcement during a news briefing, revealing that a neighbor’s report of a foul odor coming from Okoligwe’s apartment led to the discovery of the victim’s decaying body.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for further investigation.

Additionally, the police also paraded a man named Enyinnaya Iheukwumere, who claimed to be a doctor, and two accomplices for allegedly trafficking four children.

They were arrested after a woman reported her son’s abduction in Rumuokoro, Port Harcourt. The suspects allegedly trafficked three of the children from Benue State.

The rescued children are Benedict Kpaaka (1 year and 7 months old), Godgift Julius (4 years old), and Philomina (6 years old). Efforts are underway to apprehend the supplier of the children, Angel Shimeson, who is currently at large.
