The Federal Government is troubled by the sway of foreign cartoons and movies on 72% of Nigeria’s youth, raising them as foreigners and diluting traditional values.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Director General, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu, during a visit to Oyo State, voiced worry over the negative impact of foreign media on Nigerian children, urging for a revival of national pride and cultural heritage awareness.

He emphasized parental vigilance in monitoring children’s media exposure and advocated for promoting indigenous culture in educational curricula and media content.

The Director General underscored the pivotal role of early childhood in shaping values and called for proactive efforts to counter foreign influence to prevent a generation with foreign values.

He highlighted the consequences of foreign influence, including a lack of patriotism and respect for authority among youth, stressing the need for a comprehensive approach involving education, media, and cultural initiatives to address these concerns.
