Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State warmly received the House of Assembly members, led by the newly appointed Speaker, Oludaisi Elemide.
During the plenary session, which saw 22 out of 26 members in attendance, Elemide, representing Odeda constituency, was inaugurated as the new Speaker, while the impeachment of Olakunle Oluomo was ratified.
The decision was made under the leadership of Deputy Speaker Bolanle Ajayi.
Following the inauguration, Elemide and fellow legislators pledged loyalty to Governor Abiodun in his office, where they were congratulated by the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele.
Governor Abiodun affirmed the legislature’s autonomy in selecting its leader, emphasizing his full support for their decision and denying any intervention in the Speaker selection process.
He commended the lawmakers for their exemplary conduct and assured them of his administration’s unwavering support and commitment to a harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches.
In response, Elemide affirmed the legislature’s dedication to supporting the government in achieving its goals for the state.
Among the attendees were Secretary to the State Government Tokunbo Talabi, Deputy Chief of Staff Toyin Taiwo, Attorney-General Oluwasina Ogungbade, and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Ganiu Hamzat.
