Protesters In Niger State Decry Soaring Prices And Economic Hardship.

In Minna, Niger State, residents, including youths and women, have taken to the streets in protest against the escalating cost of living and severe economic challenges.

The demonstration, which began at the Minna-Bida Road’s Kpakungu Roundabout, reflects growing dissatisfaction with the current administration.

The protest, which started with women blocking roads to voice their grievances, quickly gained momentum as men and youths joined in, halting traffic flow.

Participants expressed dismay over the deteriorating economy, particularly under the leadership of Ahmed Tinubu.

Despite police presence, the demonstrators remained resolute, criticizing law enforcement as agents of the government.

Ibrahim Gana, one of the protesters, highlighted the exorbitant prices of essential goods, calling for urgent government intervention to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.

Efforts to quell the protest were met with resistance as the youths evaded police attempts to disperse them. Teargas was deployed, but the demonstrators persisted, emphasizing their demands for change.

Niger State Command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, acknowledged the disruption caused by the protest and stated that minimal force was used to restore order and reopen roads for traffic flow.
