The All Progressives Congress (APC) convened a seven-member committee to vet 12 aspirants vying for the Edo State governorship.
The ceremony, hosted at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, witnessed the absence of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman, and Senator Ajibola Basiru, the national secretary. Prof. Taoheed Adedoja chairs the committee, with Dr. Sani Danjuma serving as secretary.
Notable members include Salihu Lukman, Senator Murtala Nyako, and Steve Azaiki. The screening aligns with the party’s bylaws, reflecting its commitment to procedural fairness.
The move follows the Edo State APC’s opposition to the NWC’s plan for direct primary elections, citing electoral regulations. Aspirants encompass a diverse range of political figures, including former governorship candidates and legislators.
