Adegbenro Barakat Opeyemi, a Siwes student at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, conveyed the PRP’s stance against the IMF’s counsel on fuel and electricity subsidies in Nigeria.

According to Mallam Falalu Bello, the PRP National Publicity Secretary, the paramount concern for Nigerians is ensuring sustenance amidst economic turmoil rather than embracing austerity measures.

The PRP vehemently opposes the IMF’s suggestion to eliminate fuel and electricity subsidies, deeming it insensitive given the prevailing economic hardships exacerbated by previous subsidy removals and currency devaluation.

The party, through its acting national publicity secretary, Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, advocates for addressing corruption and inefficiencies within the fuel and electricity sectors rather than withdrawing vital subsidies.

Emphasizing the need to protect citizens’ interests, the PRP urges the Federal Government to explore alternative solutions to economic challenges, cautioning against adopting policies that exacerbate public suffering.

In a final admonition, the PRP warns against heeding the IMF’s directives, urging the government to prioritize the welfare of its citizens over international pressures that have historically led to the populace’s misery.
