President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has executed a cabinet reshuffle ahead of the upcoming December elections, relieving the finance minister of his duties.

Mohammed Amin Adam, a sitting member of parliament, assumes the role of finance minister, replacing Ken Ofori-Atta.

Ofori-Atta had been under scrutiny for his management of Ghana’s economic challenges, marked by soaring inflation and currency depreciation.

Notably, Ghana sought a $3 billion bailout from the International Monetary Fund to stabilize its economy.

President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that Adam’s appointment would bring fresh insight and expertise to tackle the nation’s intricate economic issues.

Adam, who previously served as deputy minister for energy, holds substantial experience, including roles such as deputy minister for the Northern Region in 2005, demonstrating his deep understanding of Ghana’s socio-economic dynamics.
