According to Eddy Remedy, the veteran singer and one of the founding members of The Remedies, he disputes Eedris Abdulkareem’s claim of co-founding the group.
Contrary to Abdulkareem’s narrative, Remedy asserts that he was the sole initiator of the now-disbanded musical ensemble.
In a recent podcast interview, Abdulkareem contended that both he and Eddy initiated The Remedies, reluctantly incorporating Tony Tetuila into the fold after encountering him at a show in Ilorin, Kwara State.
However, in a conversation with Daddy Freeze, Eddy Remedy clarified that Tetuila didn’t join the group in Ilorin as suggested. Instead, Tetuila was introduced to him in Lagos by Abdulkareem.
Remedy disclosed that Abdulkareem had received money from Tetuila’s parents, debunking longstanding rumors that Tetuila’s family financed the group.
According to Remedy, I formed the group and invited him into the group. The day he was coming, he brought Tony [Tetuila]. I had never met Tony in my life. I just saw a guy limping behind him.
Remedy further elaborated, He didn’t tell me that. The rumors first started when we were on tour that Tony’s parents were sponsoring the group.
No, they were not sponsoring the group. I had $5,000 that my parents sent to me from America in 1997.
They sent me that money to come and meet them since I had graduated, but I insisted that I stay back in Nigeria to pursue my music. I used that money to sponsor the group throughout that period.
