In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, unveiled plans for the acquisition of 2,050 vehicles to bolster the transportation system.

The procurement will primarily focus on obtaining Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles, aimed at mitigating congestion and minimizing queues at bus stations across the state.

Furthermore, an oil company has committed to supporting the government’s initiative by supplementing the fleet with additional BRT buses.

Responding to the persistent queues, especially on Mondays, Oluwaseun Osiyemi assured Lagosians of ongoing efforts to enhance their commuting experience.

He disclosed that the government is in the final stages of procuring 2,000 more BRT buses to alleviate station congestion.

Recognizing the significance of public-private partnerships, an oil company has pledged 50 electric buses to complement the state’s endeavors.

These measures herald reduced waiting times and improved transportation services for Lagos State residents.

Alongside addressing queues, the government plans to implement a 25% reduction in transportation fares across all routes as a palliative measure.
