The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved a new logo for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The party, which won the Kano State governorship election in the 2023 general elections, announced on Thursday that it has expelled those claiming to have different factions within its fold.
The NNPP stated that its newly approved logo is meant to create an identity that reflects its values in national development.
Ladipo Johnson, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, explained in a statement in Abuja that the new logo features red-white-red marks, replacing the former green and blue colors.
The new logo includes an educational image of a graduation cap on a book, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge, which is central to the party’s vision for growth and advancement in society.
Johnson noted that the logo change was approved during the party’s convention on April 6, 2024, in Abuja.
The process followed due procedure, with the party members’ wishes communicated to INEC, which officially conveyed its approval.
According to INEC’s description, the new logo, approved on June 6, 2024, features a graduation cap on a book with the inscription Education for All in the white section and red-white-red horizontal stripes.
With this development, the NNPP is ready to engage Nigerians on its mission for national renewal towards a better society. “We aim to create opportunities for all in a modern society where merit counts and no one is left behind. Education is key to this goal,” Johnson said.
The NNPP reiterated that there are no factions within the party, emphasizing that those claiming otherwise have been expelled. The party added that the alleged crisis had been dismissed in several courts, and it urged the media to avoid spreading misinformation.
