Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has announced that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has been receiving repeated orders for its products from abroad since it began production.
Dangote challenged the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to compare the quality of his refinery’s refined products with those that are imported.
He accused the NMDPRA of criticizing his refinery and spreading false information in the media to justify the continued importation of substandard fuel into the country.
Dangote called on the National Assembly to test all available products in a standard laboratory to refute the NMDPRA’s claims.
The refinery has exported products to European countries, Singapore, and offshore Lome.
Dangote emphasized that his refinery produces the highest quality diesel in Nigeria, with a sulfur content of 87.6 ppm, compared to over 1,800 ppm in imported diesel.
He pointed out that importing high-sulfur content diesel poses health risks and financial losses for Nigerians.
