A Gombe teenager, identified as 18-year-old Mustapha Isah, has been arrested by the Gombe State Police Command for the tragic murder of a 58-year-old woman, Aishatu Abdullahi, who was a mother of eight. Aishatu’s untimely death shocked the community and led to widespread condemnation.
The Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, stated that the incident was reported by Muhammad Abdullahi, aged 45, who is the son of the victim.
According to the report, Mustapha Isah had entered Aishatu Abdullahi’s room in search of a spanner that she had taken from him. A confrontation ensued, resulting in the teenager attacking, strangling, and fatally stabbing Aishatu with a knife.
Mustapha also mentioned an accomplice, Idris Abubakar Danjauro, aged 17, who was arrested but denied involvement in the murder during the interrogation.
Mustapha claimed that Aishatu discovered him in her room and questioned him, leading to the violent altercation. He escaped through the toilet, leaving behind a blood-stained shirt and knife, but managed to flee with the spanner, which was later recovered from him.
Eyewitnesses revealed that during the incident, Mustapha and Idris were together with Aishatu, who called for help. They attempted to reach the victim’s relatives but were unsuccessful.
Mustapha ultimately admitted to acting alone, stating that he had mentioned Idris due to past grievances that led to his dismissal from their shared workplace. The spanner, blood-stained shirt, and knife were recovered as evidence.
